Mentoring and caring for disability
OUR PEOPLE

Josh
I grew up in the tight-knit community of Yorke Peninsula, where life’s lessons were taught by experience and a network of supportive, yet accountable, neighbours. The values and skills I developed there shaped me into the person I am today.
My journey hasn’t been a straight path. I left school in year 11, already living independently, and found work in the mines with the help of my P.E. teacher, who became a mentor and a significant influence on my life.
After 14 months in the mines, I moved on to building homes for Indigenous communities in the APY Lands, an eye-opening experience that was unfortunately cut short due to government funding issues.
Returning to Adelaide, I met my amazing wife, and we’ve been together for 11 years, just recently tying the knot. I took up painting as a temporary job but stayed for 8 years, largely because of the great team I worked with.
Everything changed during a trip to Bali in 2022, where a severe accident almost cost me my arm. After 14 hours of surgery and a gruelling 16 months of rehabilitation, I found myself at a crossroads. That near-death experience forced me to reevaluate my life and ask myself what truly mattered. I realized that while painting had been a good job, it wasn’t fulfilling my deeper need to make a difference in the lives of others.
I knew I wanted to do something more meaningful, something that would allow me to give back in a way that really counted. That’s when I decided to change my path and pursue a Cert IV in Youth Work and Early Childhood Intervention. I chose youth work because I understand the importance of having someone in your corner—someone who believes in you, supports you, and helps you navigate life’s challenges. I wanted to be that person for others, especially for kids who might not have the same opportunities or support that I did.
Today, I work at Tomorrow’s Legends, driven by a mission to help young people, especially those with disabilities, achieve their goals. My life’s journey has taught me resilience, and I want to be that role model who shows them that challenges can be overcome. If I can help just one young person turn their lemons into lemonade, then I know I’m fulfilling my purpose.

Alex
Growing up in Adelaide, I have always sought to understand the wider world and connect with people from all walks of life. It was this fascination that resulted in me studying Psychology and working in hospitality upon the completion of school. This passion gave me the opportunity to study and work in San Diego in my early 20s for a couple of years, immersing myself in a new environment and truly understanding that everybody has their own challenges and is running their own race. It was this experience that my love for travel and curiosity of the world and it’s people began.

For the next few years my life consisted of travel and study, completing a double degree in Psychology, Law and a Diploma in Human Resources. I also wanted to push the boundaries and not live a simple life with a standard routine. It is this philosophy that drives me to challenge myself and try to experience as many new things as I can.

Throughout my 20s I continued this journey, travelling to a total of 49 countries and immersing myself in as many foreign environments as possible. This helped me to feel comfortable in many challenging situations, teaching me to think on my feet and use my initiative. I have connected with countless people all over the world in one way or another, sometimes language being a barrier but one can never underestimate a big smile!
From working with orphans in Bali, to fundraising to buy soccer boots for underprivileged soccer players in the Solomon Islands, I truly understand everybody has their own world view and that we are very lucky to live in Australia, with all the advantages that brings. It is my hope to bring these values of mutual respect, discipline, empathy, generosity and patience to all parts of my life and everybody I work with through Tomorrow’s Legends.

Since the Covid 19 Pandemic my life has changed dramatically for the better, meeting an amazing woman and becoming a step father to her inquisitive and outgoing 5 year old girl, and 7 year old gentle, quiet son. This makes for quite a dynamic household which requires varying parenting techniques. Whilst this can be challenging it is also truly rewarding, as I have seen them grow and learn from their mistakes. I have packed a lot into my life and seen a great number of things, making me humble and someone who appreciates the simple things in life. I hope to impart this to everybody I meet and empower people to chase their dreams and become a legend, today.

Daniel
Where to begin? Well, I was born in England and emigrated to Australia many moons ago, but apparently, my accent didn’t get the memo. People still ask where I’m from, and I tell them: “Somewhere fabulous, clearly.”

I’ve had a wonderfully varied life—ran a farm in Tasmania (yes, really), worked in landscaping and gardening (love a bit of dirt under the nails), poured coffees and pulled pints in hospitality, and even managed front-of-house for the Cabaret Festival (sequins optional). I’ve also worked in construction—so I’m no stranger to hard yakka.

Academically, I’ve clocked a few miles too. I hold an Arts degree, a Graduate Diploma in Education, and a CELTA qualification (that’s fancy-speak for teaching English to speakers of other languages). I spent some time teaching in high schools before being offered a role at Flinders University helping international students sharpen their English skills.

Teaching gave me insight into how tricky it can be for people to reach their goals—and just how important the right kind of support is. It also helped me realise I’m a total people person. I thrive on connection, laughter, and making others feel heard, seen, and supported.

On a more personal note, my family life has introduced me to a range of disabilities—including mental health conditions, brain injury, rheumatoid arthritis, and MS. That experience gave me a deep sense of empathy and perspective, which led me to the disability support sector.

Fast forward to today: I’ve been working in disability support for over 10 years, and I absolutely love it. I completed a Certificate IV in Disability three years ago to deepen my understanding, and I’ve never looked back. I bring genuine care, life experience, emotional intelligence, and a bit of cheeky charm to the work I do—and I’m always ready for a chat, a challenge, or a cuppa.

Thais
Volunteering with the Catholic community in Brazil was a turning point in my life—it sparked a deep passion for working with people and opened the door to meaningful experiences with two non-profit organizations.

At the first NGO, I began as a volunteer, running leadership courses and teaching group work techniques to young people from local communities. A few months in, I was offered the role of coordinator. From there, I took on the full spectrum of responsibilities—from administrative duties to organizing and leading volunteer teams. I stayed with that organization for eight incredible years. It was a deeply enriching journey that not only helped shape my sense of purpose but also transformed the way I view the world.

At the second NGO, I was responsible for managing donations that supported programs for incarcerated individuals and their families. It was eye-opening and humbling work that further fueled my commitment to social impact.

These experiences also motivated me to improve my English. Many of the grant proposals and donor meetings were in English, so I threw myself into learning the language properly. That, combined with a desire for new challenges and growth, led my husband and me to make the bold decision to immigrate to Australia.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active—whether it's walking, practicing yoga, dancing, cycling, or going for a drive. I also love cooking traditional dishes from home, watching movies, and simply soaking up the joy of everyday moments.

I'm passionate about meeting new people, discovering different cultures, and listening to the life stories that connect us all. Being part of Tomorrow's Legends isn’t just a job opportunity—it feels like coming home to my calling.

Luke
I grew up in good old Hamilton, New Zealand — a place where you learn to tough it out and back yourself from day one. I left home at 13 (yep, you read that right) but stuck with school and threw myself into sport and cadets. That combo gave me a solid toolkit for life: perseverance, discipline, and a “never say die” attitude.

Rowing was my jam back then — and I’m stoked to say that by 18, I’d bagged a gold and silver at the New Zealand nationals. A massive team effort, of course — and I’ll always be grateful for the mates and memories made out on that water.

After high school, I hit Waikato University to study Communications and Media. Juggling full-time work and study was a grind, but it taught me that when you want something, you find a way to make it happen.

In 2005, I popped over to the Gold Coast for a quick holiday with mates — and guess what? Never left. The sunshine, the surf, and the endless opportunities were just too good to pass up.

For the next few years, I roamed far and wide across Australia — picking up life lessons, great yarns, and a bunch of solid friendships along the way. I ended up in Broome for a couple of years (hands down one of the best calls I ever made) before settling in Perth for a solid decade. That chapter gave me some of my best memories — working in transport and logistics, which opened doors for me to travel all over WA and even see a bit of the world.

And then life really levelled up — I met my beautiful wife nine years ago. We tied the knot in NZ back in 2019 (cheers to a wedding that still gets talked about!). In the middle of COVID in 2021, we made the leap to South Australia — it was a bold move in a crazy time, but it turned out to be one of our best. Now, we’re settled, living a life we love, and soaking up every bit of what SA has to offer.

Born and raised in sunny Adelaide, I’ve always loved two things: working with people and letting my creativity shine.

After high school, I jumped straight into studying Visual Arts and found my niche in the world of glass blowing. That passion took me all the way through my honours degree, where I specialised in flameworked glass in my 20s. From there, I spent years as a production glass maker — I loved the craft and the community around it — before life took a new turn when I became a parent.

Next up was nursing. I trained as an Enrolled Nurse, with a real soft spot for palliative and high-needs care. While waiting for my registration, I got my hands dirty (sometimes literally!) as a care worker, supporting people in their homes. I realised then just how much I loved that one-on-one connection — helping people where they feel safest. That role gave me all sorts of skills: from personal care and fitting prosthetics, to lending a hand with housework, gardens, and giving people the dignity to keep living life on their terms. I worked alongside older people and those living with mental health challenges — helping them stay connected to their communities.

I later worked in residential aged care, supporting people with high needs and dementia. While that was rewarding in many ways, the fast-paced environment made me feel I couldn’t give people the kind of personalised care they truly deserved.

So, I listened to my gut and made a pivot — I followed my love for gardening and studied Horticulture. It was the perfect balance for my life as a single parent, especially with a child who has their own health challenges.

During my studies, I took the leap and started my own gardening business — and 13 years later, it’s still going strong! Most of my clients have been older people who appreciate having someone they trust tending to their gardens and their peace of mind. Over the years, this role naturally grew into so much more than weeding and pruning — it became about connection, companionship, and encouraging people to stay active and social in the community.

Now, I’m excited to blend all those threads together. I’m ready to draw on my nursing and care background while bringing along my creativity, organisation skills, and my passion for helping people live well — whether that’s through practical support, a good chat, or getting stuck into a new project together.

Connecting with people is what I do best — and I’m always up for finding new ways to make life brighter for the legends I get to work with. 🌱✨

My family and I made the big leap and immigrated to Australia in 2005. As soon as we landed, I hit the ground running — or more accurately, walking briskly to a full-time English course! Within a few months, I scored my very first job in a mail distribution factory. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was honest work and my first taste of Aussie working life.

Not long after, I swapped sorting envelopes for scripts and landed in a call centre as a telemarketer. It was fun, full of quirky characters and strange phone calls, but I quickly realised I wanted something with a bit more challenge (and fewer hang-ups!). So, I moved into a reception and admin role, where I found my stride in organisation and people skills.

A couple of years later, I took on the role of Office Manager at a crash repairer — a job that truly stuck with me. I loved guiding people through the often-stressful process of getting their cars repaired. There was something incredibly rewarding about seeing a client's relief — and smile — when their beloved vehicle was restored and ready to hit the road again (preferably without another "crash" sequel!).

Next, I revved things up with a job at Harley-Davidson as a sales assistant. It was a blast! My main mission? Making sure riders not only looked cool but stayed safe — preaching the gospel of protective gear with the passion of someone who’s seen what gravel rash can do.
In recent years, I’ve taken on the most demanding (and rewarding!) role yet — being a full-time mum to two energetic, beautiful boys who are now both in school. That means I’ve finally reclaimed a little bit of "me time" — and I use it wisely.

Outside of work and parenting, you’ll often find me hiking through the hills, lifting weights like a low-key superhero, tending to my garden, or cooking up a storm in the kitchen. I love being around family and friends, and our home is also shared with two dogs and a rather majestic bearded dragon lizard who thinks he rules the house (he might be right).

I’m a lifelong learner — always curious, always open. I enjoy sharing knowledge, hearing people’s stories, and supporting others as they grow. I'm a good listener, a patient teacher, and someone who genuinely finds joy in helping others discover their own strengths.

Gabi
Hi there! I’m Gabriela — a remedial massage therapist and holistic healer with a deep passion for helping people feel better in their bodies and more at peace in their lives (think of me as your personal cheerleader for relaxation and well-being).
My journey into the world of therapies started with one simple desire: to help people live better. I’ve always believed that work should have meaning — and for me, every massage, every session, is a chance to promote healing, bring a little calm into someone’s chaos, and maybe even help them rediscover the joy of moving without sounding like a bowl of Rice Krispies.
People often tell me I’m incredibly patient, empathetic, kind, and dedicated. (Their words, not mine — but I’ll happily own it!) I’m also a bit of a learning junkie. Whether it’s new techniques, alternative therapies, or just a random documentary about the nervous system, I’m always looking to grow — personally and professionally.
When I’m not helping people unwind and de-stress, you’ll probably find me talking to my plants (yes, they have names), rearranging my home sanctuary (my sacred space of calm and good vibes), or hiking through a forest in search of the perfect waterfall. Beaches, trails, cliffs — nature and I are basically best friends. And don’t even get me started on travel… If there's fresh air and a lack of phone reception, count me in!
Now, I’ve embarked on an exciting new chapter as a support worker, and I’m absolutely loving it. It feels like a natural extension of what I do — bringing care, compassion, and a bit of light-heartedness into people’s lives. I see every encounter as a two-way street: a chance to support others and also learn and grow alongside them. And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Felipe
As someone who grew up under Brazil’s sunny skies, I’ve always believed in the magic of human connection. There’s just something about building bonds that last — the kind that light you up from the inside out. That same spark led me to volunteer at an NGO, where I got to swap stories, share skills, and help young people grow into legends of their own.
But even back home, there was a little voice in my head whispering, “What’s next? Give me more!” So I packed my bags, said “tchau” to Brazil, and landed in the land of kangaroos and killer coffee. Here, I stumbled into new adventures, new hobbies, and a fresh dose of connections — each one teaching me something about this wild ride called life.
Hospitality taught me how to keep my cool when chaos hits — because let’s be real, it always does. But it also showed me how to slow down and soak it all in: the calm of a sleepy city, the joy of a bike ride that surprises you with jaw-dropping views, and the magic of a café chat that turns strangers into mates.
Then there’s dancing — my favourite accidental obsession. Turns out, the connection I craved can live in music, rhythm, and a room full of people vibing together. Movement became my new language for building bonds, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
But hey, I’m still hungry for more. More stories. More connections. More “wow, did that really happen?” moments. I want each day to be a fresh mix of impact, challenge, and joy — big days, slow days, everything in between.
I’m ready to bring my passion for people to Tomorrow’s Legends — and keep finding new ways to spark care, community, and a whole lot of good vibes. Let’s make life legendary.

Anthony
I was born and raised right here in Adelaide, South Australia, and grew up in the north-eastern suburbs.
I’m happily married and the proud dad of three wonderful daughters — they’re 5, 11, and 13, so life at home is never boring!

I’ve got a pretty diverse work history under my belt, with experience in hospitality, security, retail, customer service, telecommunications, logistics, and gardening.

In my 30s, I discovered a real passion for science and nature. So, I took the leap and headed back to university to study a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biology and Ecosystem Sciences — and I wrapped that up in 2023.

While I was looking for work in the scientific field, I was offered the chance to become a support worker — and I haven’t looked back since. I hit the ground running and soon realised that my mix of skills, life experience, and big heart made me a great fit for supporting people in need. It’s work I find genuinely rewarding.

I’ve been a support worker since 2023 and have gained experience working with children, teens, adults, and aged care clients from all walks of life, each with unique needs and goals.

Outside of work, I’m all about gardening, cooking, science, nature, music, movies, gaming, and spending quality time with my family.
Helping people live their best lives, staying connected to community, and sprinkling in a bit of nature and creativity along the way — that’s what I’m all about. 🌿✨

Alex
I began my working life as a hairdresser, spending over 11 years in the industry building strong relationships with my clients and helping them feel confident. That love for people, connection, and care has stayed with me through every stage of life.
After becoming a mum and making a fresh start in Adelaide in 2019, I stepped away from hairdressing to focus on raising my two beautiful, VERY energetic boys- an experience that’s taught me patience, resilience, and a deep sense of empathy. As they grew, so did my passion for health and wellbeing.
I completed my Certificate in Fitness and began working at STRONG Pilates, where I discovered how powerful movement can be for both body and mind. From there, I became a qualified health coach, supporting clients on their health journey to feel stronger, healthier, and more connected to themselves through simple, sustainable changes.
I’m passionate about all aspects of wellness- movement, emotional health, connection, cooking, and creating nourishing routines that actually work in real life.I love being outdoors and believe nature is the best medicine.
Outside of work you’ll find me with my boys (usually playing soccer), dancing in the kitchen, cooking and experimenting with new recipes, at the gym or Pilates, walking along the beach or soaking up the sun.
I’m driven by a genuine desire to help people feel supported, empowered, and truly seen. I lead with warmth, empathy, and genuine curiosity, creating space for meaningful connection and positive change.I look forward to meeting you.

Daniella
Hey there, I’m Daniella —a reliable, down-to-earth support professional who genuinely loves helping people feel heard, supported, and truly looked after. I bring a calm, solutions-focused mindset to everything I do, and I’m all about creating smooth, positive experiences — whether I’m assisting clients one-on-one, backing up the team, or quietly making sure all the little details behind the scenes are spot on.
I’m a natural communicator and super organised, and I’m always ready to go that extra mile to make life easier for the people around me. I thrive in people-focused roles — especially when kids and families are involved. There’s just something special about creating a safe, welcoming space where everyone feels valued.
Outside of work, I’m a proud mum to my energetic four-year-old son, who keeps life full of laughs, surprises, and way too many snack breaks. I’ve always had a soft spot for kids — they bring out my warm, patient, and understanding side, whether it’s in the home or at work.
At the end of the day, I believe a positive attitude and genuine care make all the difference. It’s what I bring to every shift, every client, every conversation. Here’s to making people’s lives a little smoother, a little brighter — and having some fun along the way.

Amanda
Hi! I’m Amanda — a Brazilian physiotherapist with a heart that’s happiest when I’m helping others. Supporting people has always come naturally to me, and I see my work as an extension of who I am rather than just a profession.

I specialised in paediatrics and neonatology and have experience in aged care, giving me the privilege of supporting people at every stage of life. My background as a Pilates instructor also gave me strong knowledge in exercise, stretching, mobility, and strengthening techniques, along with valuable experience in respiratory care.

Right now, I’m studying for my Master’s degree in Public Health, expanding my skills and learning new ways to make a real difference. I feel very comfortable working with children and adults on the autism spectrum, as well as clients with ADHD and mild cognitive conditions — creating safe, supportive, and positive environments where everyone feels valued.

But there’s more to me than just my work! I’m a creative soul who loves painting, working with clay, and crafting— it’s my way of finding balance and joy. And yes, I have a massive sweet tooth! I love both making and sharing desserts — nothing beats a good laugh over something delicious.

I’m someone who brings warmth, humour, and positivity wherever I go. I love making people feel good, creating little moments of happiness, and being there when someone needs a helping hand. At the same time, I also value moments of quiet and reflection, which help me recharge and stay grounded.

I’m excited to bring my skills, energy, and heart into my work — helping others not just feel supported, but truly seen, valued, and empowered.

I grew up in Adelaide’s western suburbs and have always loved being active, especially through sports like tennis, soccer, and AFL. At 19, I joined the Army straight out of high school and served for six years, travelling across Australia and gaining some incredible life experiences before being medically discharged due to injury.

The Army shaped me into a more resilient person and taught me to get comfortable with the uncomfortable — and to always remember that there’s light at the end of the tunnel. It also showed me how to stay calm and positive under stress, which I’ve found is really valuable when supporting people with disabilities. Some of the more memorable experiences included riding in a Black Hawk helicopter and even jumping out of a cargo plane!

Adjusting back to civilian life had its challenges, but I found that focusing on health, wellbeing, and community involvement made a huge difference. I started my own small tennis coaching business, and that’s really where I discovered how rewarding it is to help people achieve their goals and share in their happiness.

That passion naturally grew into support work. Whether it’s encouraging someone to be more active, head out into the community, or just enjoy the simple things — like a beach walk and a good chat — I’m all about building real connections and celebrating progress together.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing footy, riding my motorbike, and spending time with my two pugs. For me, support work is about trust, connection, and showing up for people in ways that truly matter.
Micheal
